Scholarships for 2005

Savannah’s Second Wish, Inc., is pleased to announce the recipients of its college scholarships for 2005.

Mallory Hofstad, a senior at Hinsdale South, was awarded the scholarship available to one graduating senior in Advocate Hope Children’s Hospital department of Hematology / Oncology. As required by the scholarship parameters, Mallory submitted a 500-word essay which demonstrated her interest in community service and how being treated for cancer has affected who she is today and her future goals. Mallory plans to attend the University of Illinois in the fall and to major in Human Developments and Family Studies.

Brian Bekkedal and Sarah Gretsche each were awarded a scholarship available to graduating seniors at Downers Grove North High School. Candidates for this scholarship are required to major in a health-related field of study. This major was chosen in memory of Savannah Olson’s wish to be a nurse when she attended college and in honor of the compassionate care she received from her medical staff at Advocate Hope Children’s hospital.

Brian and Sarah submitted 500-word essays reflecting how they have genuine interest in community service and why they have chosen their field of study. Brian plans to major in physical therapy at the University of Kentucky. Sarah plans to major in physical therapy at Emory University.
